FAMU Tampa Classic 2017

It’s back! This fall, get ready for the FAMU Tampa Classic, hosted right here at Raymond James Stadium. The game will be held on Saturday, September 16th at 6 p.m. featuring Florida A&M University (FAMU) and Tennessee State University (TSU). This classic rivalry began in 1944, TSU beating them 30 game wins to 24 game wins. The events surrounding the game will kick off on Friday with the FAMU Kickoff Luncheon. Fans are welcome to join the community partners, local business leaders, and university officials. Special guest speakers will be attending the luncheon and it will give a preview for the events for the rest of the weekend. On game day, fans can enjoy food, beverages, and live entertainment that will lead up to the kick off.

FAMU Battle of the Bands will be one of the biggest events of the weekend. It will feature top marching bands, including FAMU “Marching 100” and TSU “Aristocrat of Bands”. Many movies have been based on this particular event and the excitement surrounding Battle of the Bands cannot be put into words, it is that huge!

“There is no doubt that the FAMU Tampa Football Classic will offer an exciting match-up on the field, but we are equally excited by this series of incredible fan events that will be featured throughout the weekend,” said Rob Higgins, executive director of the Tampa Bay Sports Commission. “We are thrilled to be welcoming FAMU and TSU fans to our community and to showcase all that Tampa Bay has to offer.”
